Kolkata, Aug. 14 -- Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, (SMPK) today awarded the concession for the Mechanization of Berth No. 5 at the Haldia Dock Complex (HDC) to the
Ganges Bulk Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (GBTPL) to develop on a design, build,finance, operate and
transfer (DBFOT) basis on PPP model.
The project, valued at Rs 343.58 crore was signed in presence of port chairman Rathendra
Raman and A. K. Dutta, senior vice-president of GBTPL.
The project will see GBTPL mechanize the berth to handle dry bulk cargo, aiming to increase the port's efficiency and cargo throughput with a designed capacity of 5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) in an area of 44 acres (1.78 Lakh Sqm) at the HDC.
