Kolkata, Aug. 6 -- In a significant step towards restoration of the city's iconic riverfront, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) today signed an MoU for beautification of Surinam Ghat and development of Mayer Ghat.
The agreement marked a shared commitment to enhancing public infrastructure and reviving the historical ghats ( pathway to the river) as part of the port's broader Swachhata Initiatives.
SMPK chairman Rathendra Raman and GRSE's chairman Cmde. P. R. Hari among others were present during the signing of the agreement at the port complex.
