Mumbai, Dec. 20 -- Former Maharashtra minister Manikrao Kokate, who received bail from the Bombay High Court in a 1995 cheating and forgery case, plans to approach the Supreme Court, sources said here on Saturday.

Kokate's lawyers have decided to do so since the petitioner -- former minister Tukaram Dighole -- who filed the original complaint against Manikrao Kokate is expected to move the Supreme Court shortly.

The petitioners have claimed that Kokate's MLA status is no longer legally tenable and hence his lawyers will now approach the Supreme Court to save his MLA status, as soon as he receives the Bombay High Court order.
