Mumbai, Sept. 16 -- Following Virat Kohli's announcement that he will step down as India's T20I captain after the conclusion of upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021, his fans on Thursday expressed utter shock with social media being flooded with a flurry of reactions.

Reacting to the latest development, vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India Rajeev Shukla said that Kohli's contribution in T20Is for India has been immense not just as a batsman, but also as a leader.

"His contribution in T20Is has been immense, not just as a batsman, but also as a captain. Since it is his personal decision, we respect it and I am confident we can win the T20 World Cup under his leadership," he added.
