Reckong Peo, June 24 -- Following the landmark announcement by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to open the Indo-Tibet border at Shipki-La Pass for tourists the Kinnaur district administration on Monday issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure smooth, safe, and regulated access to this high-altitude region.

The move marks the first time since independence that Indian tourists are being allowed to visit this strategically significant and scenic border point. Presiding over a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's Office Auditorium in Reckong Peo, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma laid out mandatory guidelines for visitors planning to explore Shipki-La and nearby Rani-Kanda's Khana Dumti region.
