Hyderabad, May 17 -- In an exceptional display of surgical expertise and multidisciplinary coordination, doctors at KIMS Hospital, Kondapur, successfully removed a rare and massive retrosternal goiter from a 35-year-old woman in a high-risk surgery lasting over seven hours.

In a statement here on Saturday, the case details were shared by Consultant Thoracic Surgeon Dr Rohan Reddy C.

The patient initially presented to a local hospital with moderate chest pain and occasional breathing difficulty. Imaging revealed a large mass occupying a significant portion of the right upper chest cavity. Following a biopsy, which suggested the mass resembled thyroid tissue, she was referred to KIMS Kondapur for further evaluation.
