Hyderabad, Jan. 9 -- Doctors at KIMS Kondapur hospital have achieved a major medical breakthrough by successfully treating a rare and highly complex case of chronic jaundice that had been declared inoperable even at leading international centres.
Sharing details, Dr Ravula Phani Krishna, Senior Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist and Liver-Pancreas Specialist, said the 30-year-old patient had suffered for eight years due to a rare pancreatic neuroendocrine tumour that compressed the bile duct and caused severe portal hypertension.
The patient had earlier undergone over 24 ERCP procedures with only temporary relief and was advised a high-risk surgery abroad.
