Bengaluru, May 3 -- Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday expressed shock over the recent Pahalgam terror attack and demanded strong action against Pakistan.

He welcomed the Centre's move to conduct a caste census, terming it a vindication of the Congress party's long-standing demand.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) in Kalaburagi, Kharge said, "The Pahalgam incident has shocked us all. The bereaved families should get compensation from the government. We want the government to give a befitting reply to Pakistan."
