Bengaluru, June 3 -- The simmering Kannada language controversy involving veteran actor Kamal Haasan and the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) took a new turn on Tuesday as the KFCC President signalled plans for wide-ranging consultations with Kannada organisations, government representatives, and other key stakeholders.

Addressing reporters, KFCC President Narasimhalu said, "Certainly, we expected an apology, but Kamal sir has just repeated whatever he told earlier in the letters addressed to us."

He underlined that the matter is now firmly before the courts, adding, "The matter is now in court, right? Let's see how that proceeds, and we (KFCC) will respond accordingly. We are hopeful the court will be on our side."
