Bengaluru, Nov. 15 -- The Special Investigation Team probing the voter fraud in Aland Assembly constituency has made its first arrest, detaining a man who allegedly ran two online portals supplying untraceable mobile numbers and OTPs used to open fake accounts on Election Commission platforms for deleting genuine voters in 2023.
The accused, identified as Bapi Adya, was picked up from a village in Nadia district near the Indo-Bangladesh border and produced before the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court. He has been remanded in 12 days police custody. Investigators recovered multiple digital devices from him.
According to the SIT, Adya's portals sold mobile numbers and OTPs for about Rs 10 each. These credentials were used...
