New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- A Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court in Chennai has awarded five years rigorous imprisonment to a key accused in the 2014 Sakir Hussain Espionage Case involving a conspiracy by a Pakistani national and a Sri Lankan national to carry out explosions at a US Consulate and the Israel Embassy in India.

The Court while awarding the sentence also imposed a fine of Rs one thousand on Noorudeen alias Rafi alias Ismail. He was held guilty under Section 120B read with section Section 489B of IPC and Sections 16 &18 of UA(P)A.

As per the NIA Special Court's judgement, Noorudeen has been sentenced to two years each of RI under one provisions and five years of RI under the remaining three. All sentences will run co...
