Beed, March 24 -- A fresh allocation of 1.20 lakh litres of kerosene has been sanctioned for Beed district to tackle the acute shortage of cooking gas arising from a war-like situation in the country.

The supply will be distributed through 1,977 fair price shops across the district, bringing significant relief to nearly five lakh ration card holders who have been struggling due to irregular gas availability, an official said on Tuesday.

With kerosene distribution restarting after a gap of nine years, residents are expected to get respite from long waiting periods for LPG cylinders, which often extended to nearly 45 days.
