Malappuram, June 25 -- A 49-year-old tribal youth was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Kerala's Malappuram district today, officials said.
According to reports, the deceased was identified as Billy, a resident of Vaniampuzha near Munderi.
Billy had stepped out from his house around 11 a,m. to collect mushroom from the forest. Later, the relatives conducted a search and found the body lying at Edakkara in Moothedam grama panchayat bordering the Nilambur forest with injuries on his chest and legs.
Alerted by locals, the police and forest officials have set out for the spot amidst heavy downour for shifting the body to Nilambur district hospital. More details were awaited. UNI AK SSP
