Srinagar, May 6 -- The body of a 27-year-old tourist from Kerala was found in the upper reaches of Gulmarg in Baramulla district, officials said on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammed Shanib, a resident of Kerala, who arrived in Kashmir on April 18.
Officials said the body was recovered from Hakadpathri in Gulmarg, bearing injuries consistent with a wild animal attack. Initial investigations indicate that the victim was likely mauled by a bear.
The body was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Tangmarg for medico-legal formalities, including a postmortem examination to confirm the cause of death.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
