Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 4 -- Kerala will soon launch a 24x7 helpline dedicated to the safety and welfare of senior citizens as part of a major reform package presented at the Home Department's Vision-2031 seminar.

With the state's elderly population expected to touch 50 lakh by 2031, the initiative has been placed on top priority.

The seminar, organised by the Home Department, set out an extensive roadmap aimed at reshaping policing into a more citizen-friendly, service-orientated and guardian-like system.

The action plan covers modernisation of policing, enhanced emergency response, improved crime prevention strategies and social-security-driven interventions, sources said.
