Kochi, June 21 -- The Kerala government has urged the Centre to sanction a special financial assistance of Rs 620 crore for the implementation of projects to resolve issues related to human-wildlife conflict in the state.

The government also urged the Centre to amend the Wildlife Protection Act-1972 to effectively curb human-wildlife conflict and declare wild boar as vermin.

Kerala Forest Minister AK Saseendran expressed his displeasure with the Centre over hunting of any wild animal listed under Schedules I and II of the Act is prohibited, except in exceptional circumstances.
