Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 30 -- Kerala has urged the Centre to amend existing wildlife protection laws to effectively address the growing challenges of human-wildlife conflict in the state, Law Minister P. Rajeeve said here today.

Inaugurating the regional conference on 'Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence: Legal and Policy Perspectives', organised jointly by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA) at Sankaranarayanan Thampi Hall in the State Legislative Assembly complex, the Minister said Kerala's geographical setting, with forests located close to human settlements, has intensified such conflicts.
