Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 8 -- The state cabinet approved the second phase of the Medisep insurance scheme for government employees and pensioners in the state of Kerala, increasing basic coverage from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
The cabinet has already approved the inclusion of over 2,100 treatment procedures across 41 specialty areas under the base treatment package.
Two treatments: Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy with Defibrillator (costing Rs6 lakh) and ICD Dual Chamber (costing Rs5 lakh), which were earlier removed from the catastrophic package during the first phase, will now be reinstated under the additional package.
Surgical procedures such as knee and hip replacements will be included in the basic benefit package.
