Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 26 -- The Kerala State Election Commission has announced that ballot papers and ballot labels on voting machines will carry candidate names in Tamil and Kannada in wards identified as linguistic minority areas during the upcoming local body elections.

Tamil will be used alongside Malayalam in wards with notable Tamil-speaking populations across the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, and Wayanad.

In Kasaragod district, where Kannada-speaking voters are concentrated, ballot materials will also include names in Kannada.

In Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, the Valiyalasala and Karamana wards will feature Tamil. In Kasaragod Municipality, all 18 wards will carry details in Kannad...
