Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 9 -- Kerala has released comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs for Antibiotic Smart Hospitals and Antibiotic Literate Panchayats, marking a major step in strengthening the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

The guidelines mandate colour coding of all hospitals in the state based on prescribed standards, with the dual objective of improving antibiotic stewardship and facilitating hospital accreditation.

The SOP also details certification mechanisms for Antibiotic Smart Hospitals, AMR-compliant institutions and antibiotic literacy initiatives in local self-government bodies.
