Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 30 -- The official residence of the Kerala Governor, presently known as Raj Bhavan, will be renamed Lok Bhavan on Monday, in line with a nationwide directive to rebrand all Raj Bhavans and Raj Niwases across the country.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in its order dated November 25, 2025, instructed that these colonial-era names be replaced with "Lok Bhavan" and "Lok Niwas" to reflect a more citizen-centric identity.
Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar had earlier proposed the name change, recommending that the governor'sresidence be redefined as a house of the people rather than an exclusive administrative enclave.
