Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 23 -- The Kerala government on Tuesday suspended M K Vinod Kumar, Deputy Inspector General (Headquarters) of Kerala Prisons and Correctional Services, after the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) registered a corruption case against him.

The case was registered following a preliminary enquiry conducted by the VACB's Thiruvananthapuram Special Cell, which found prima facie evidence that the officer had allegedly misused his official position to receive bribes through unlawful means.

Based on the enquiry findings, the Vigilance booked Vinod Kumar under Sections 7(a) and 7(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
