Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 24 -- Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan on Wednesday alleged that Christians across the country are facing sustained attacks and are being prevented from holding prayers and celebrating Christmas festival.

In a statement here, he said incidents of violence against Christians have sharply increased, with 830 attacks reported in 2024 and 706 more cases registered up to October this year.

He alleged that in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat, Christmas prayers and religious gatherings are being obstructed and members of the Christian community are being assaulted.
