Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 8 -- Migration patterns in Kerala are undergoing a significant transformation, according to the 2023 Kerala Migration Survey.
While Gulf countries once attracted the majority of emigrants, the survey shows that young Keralites are increasingly moving to countries such as Germany, the UK, and Australia.
Along with this geographic shift, the nature of migration is changing, moving away from traditional labour roles toward opportunities in management, academia, and knowledge-based sectors.
The survey also highlights that students now constitute 11 per cent of Kerala's migrant population, reflecting a growing trend of education-driven migration.
