Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 10 -- The Kerala Health Department has issued a comprehensive Technical Guideline for the Treatment of Cough in Children and the rational use of cough medications, aimed at ensuring child safety and preventing misuse.
The new protocol follows reports of multiple child deaths outside Kerala linked to the consumption of contaminated cough syrups. A three-member expert committee was constituted to study the issue, and its recommendations have been incorporated into the guideline.
