Kochi, Feb. 26 -- The Kerala High Court on Thursday issued an interim order staying the release of the film The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond, which was scheduled to hit theatres on February 27.

Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas passed the order while considering a batch of petitions challenging the film's certification and content. The court directed the producers not to proceed with the release or transfer of distribution rights until further orders.

During the hearing, the court raised questions over the manner in which the Central Board of Film Certification granted the film a U/A certificate. The petitions alleged that the movie's content and promotional materials could create communal disharmony and misrepresent the state of Kerala.
