Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 5 -- Kerala has issued nearly 4.10 crore Aadhaar cards against an estimated population of only 3.60 crore, according to information obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act, sparking a political and public debate over possible discrepancies in the Aadhaar ecosystem.

The mismatch of around 49 lakh Aadhaar cards has raised alarm, with BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar stating that the data validates his long-standing criticism of the Aadhaar framework introduced by the previous UPA Government.

Chandrasekhar alleged that Aadhaar was rolled out with "immature political intent and weak technological design," leading to large-scale duplication and questionable entries in the national identity database....
