Kochi, Dec. 8 -- The Kerala Government on Monday announced its decision to challenge the verdict in the high-profile 2017 actress assault case, hours after a trial court acquitted actor Dileep while convicting six others.

Industries and Law Minister P. Rajeev said the government would move an appeal against the ruling of the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court, which cleared Dileep, the eighth accused, citing insufficient evidence to establish the alleged conspiracy.

The first to sixth accused were found guilty and are awaiting sentencing on December 12.
