Thiruvananthapuram, July 19 -- Urbanization in Kerala is occurring at twice the national average and at a rate higher than the global average, effectively turning the state into one large city.

Kerala is effectively turning into one large city, not because people are migrating from villages to cities, but because urban areas are expanding into rural regions, reflecting rapid urbanization, according to the Urban Policy Commission, appointed by the State Government.
