Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 3 -- : Kerala has ensured family-based care for 500 children in the last two years, emerging as the state with the highest number of children placed under family-based care in the country, reflecting its continued focus on child protection and welfare.

Health and Women and Child Development Minister Veena George has said the achievement was part of the state's efforts to realise a "Child-Safe Kerala."She noted that the 'Kaval Plus' project of the State Women and Child Development Department had received special appreciation from the Supreme Court for its effective implementation.
