Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 16 -- The Kerala government today adopted a firm position following the union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's refusal to grant censor exemption to 19 films selected for screening at the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian instructed the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy to proceed with the screening of all films as per the original festival schedule, asserting that no obstruction will be allowed to disrupt the event.
Strongly criticising the Centre's decision, the minister said the move reflected an anti-democratic attitude towards Kerala's progressive cultural and artistic traditions.
