Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 26 -- The Kerala Chief Minister's Office on Friday categorically denied media reports claiming that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had telephoned BJP leader V V Rajesh to congratulate him hours before his election as mayor of the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation.

In a press release, the CMO clarified that it was Rajesh who had contacted the Chief Minister's Personal Assistant (PA) on Friday morning seeking an opportunity to speak with the Chief Minister. As the Chief Minister was not available at the time, the PA informed him that the call could be connected later.
