Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 16 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan this evening will confer the Chief Minister's Award for Best Green Islands (Pachathuruth) at a State-level ceremony here, recognising the State's most outstanding community-driven eco-restoration projects.

Launched as part of the Nava Kerala Action Plan, the Pachathuruth initiative has so far created more than 4,000 mini-forests across the State, covering over 1,200 acres, thereby strengthening Kerala's grassroots fight against climate change.

The award function, organised under the Haritha Keralam Mission, will be held at 6 pm at Tagore Theatre.
