Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 7 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today greeted the people on the occasion of Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi, describing the Guru as a guiding light of the state's renaissance movement.

In his message, the Chief Minister said the Guru taught Malayalees to "organise, strengthen and attain knowledge through education", while proclaiming the universal truth that the essence of all religion is the same.

Vijayan recalled the historic All-Religions Conference convened by the Guru at the Aluva Advaita Ashram in 1924, which envisioned a society living in harmony without hatred. This year also marks the centenary of the Guru's celebrated meeting and dialogue with Mahatma Gandhi at Sivagiri Ashram, he noted.
