Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 27 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday inaugurated Phase-I of the 280-km Akkulam-Chettuva Waterway, describing it as a milestone in the development of inland navigation in Kerala and announcing that the historic waterway will be extended up to Vizhinjam International Port.

Inaugurating the project at Chilakoor Beach Park in Varkala, the Chief Minister said the linkage to Vizhinjam Port would pave the way for a strong multi-modal logistics network in the state and open up new avenues for investment and industrial growth. V. Joy, MLA, presided over the function.
