Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 29 -- Kerala Finance Minister K N Balagopal on Thursday presented the State Budget for 2026-27 in the Legislative Assembly, the twelfth budget of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the sixth budget tabled by Balagopal.

Despite fiscal constraints, the budget places social security and welfare at the core, with a major allocation of Rs 14,500 crore for welfare pensions, benefitting the elderly, widows, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable sections.

As part of labour welfare measures, the budget announced a Rs 1,000 increase in honorarium for Anganwadi and ASHA workers, acknowledging their frontline role in health, nutrition, and community services.
