Thrissur, Aug. 1 -- In an effort to assuage the feelings of the Christian community over the arrests of two Kerala nuns in Chhattisgarh, BJP state President Rajeev Chandrasekhar today met Archbishop of Trichur Andrews Thazhath, the president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of India and held a closed door discussion.

The meeting, which lasted over 30 minutes was also attended by Auxiliary Bishop Tony Neelankavil and the talks were focussed on the legal and humanitarian response to the arrest.

Emerging from the meeting Rajeev Chandrasekhan said the arrest of two nuns in Chhattisgarh on allegations of human trafficking and forced conversion were due to a "misunderstanding" and they will be released on bail soon.
