Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 29 -- The Kerala Legislative Assembly today registered its strong opposition to the Election Commission of India's (ECI) move to conduct a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the state's electoral rolls, adopting a unanimous resolution that described the step as unwarranted and impractical.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who moved the resolution, said the Commission's directive amounted to a duplication of work when the statutory summary revision process was already underway.
He warned that forcing a parallel exercise would not only confuse voters but also strain the state's administrative machinery.
