Malappuram, Feb. 25 -- Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) wrested control of a Gram Panchayat in Kerala's Malappuram district from the ruling CPI(M)-headed Left Democratic Front (LDF) with the backing of the Trinamool Congress on Tuesday.
The president of the LDF-ruled Chungathara panchayat in Nilambur taluk was voted out of office through a no-confidence motion.
The motion was passed 11-9 in the 20-member panchayat council.
Panchayat Vice-president and LDF leader Nusaiba Sudhee voted in favour of UDF.
Nusaiba Sudheer is the wife of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) Nilambur Constituency Chairman Sudheer Punappat.
