Kochi, June 3 -- The body of the international trainee from Tanzania, who had accidentally fallen in Ernakulam Channel on June 1, was recovered by the Indian Navy in the early hours of Tuesday.

An extensive search operation was undertaken by the naval diving teams and helicopter to locate the body.

The deceased trainee identified as Cadet Abdul Ibrahim Salehe from Tanzania had accidentally fallen in the Ernakulam Channel on June 1 at 1730 hrs. He was in Kochi while en enroute to Tanzania, on leave from the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.

Required formalities to repatriate the body back to Dar es Salaam are being progressed. The Indian Navy offers deepest condolences on the unfortunate demise of the international trainee.
