Kannur, Feb. 21 -- Five persons were injured, including a 12-year-old child, one of them serious, in a fireworks accident during a Theyyam festival at "Muchiriyan Wayanad Kulavan temple," at Neerkadavu near Azhikode, on Friday.

According to police, seriously injured Arjun was admitted to a hospital in Mangalore, and Adith and Midhun were admitted to MIMS hospital at Kannur, and two others, all of the injured who were hailing from nearby areas of Neerkadavu, have been admitted to another private hospital.

The incident took place around 0415 hrs, when a gundu (locally made cracker) misfired and fell on a mob, who gathered there to witness the Bappiriyin Theyyam, and exploded.
