Kozhikode ( Kerala), April 26 -- Prominent historian, writer and political commentator Muttayil Govinda Menon Sankara Narayanan, popularly known as MGS Narayanan, passed away due to age-related illness at his residence "Maitri" in Malaparamba here on Saturday.
He was 92, and is survived by his wife Premalatha and two children N Vijayakumar and N Vinaya.
MGS was the member secretary and former Chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) and wrote over 200 books and articles. He was also a member of the editorial board of Journal of Indian History and Indian Historical Research.
