Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 19 -- : Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala on Friday welcomed the Kerala High Court's order refusing permission for a brewery at Elappully in Palakkad district, saying the verdict has proved that his long-standing fight against the project was justified.
In a statement, Chennithala said the court's decision came as a major relief to the people of Elappully, who are already struggling with severe drinking water scarcity. He alleged that the move to allow the brewery was marred by large-scale corruption and irregularities, and demanded that the State government immediately withdraw from the project.
