Kampala, July 9 -- Kenya defeated Uganda 32-24 in the quarterfinals of the Rugby Africa Cup, which also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 Rugby World Cup, in Kampala on Tuesday.



Kenya took a 12-7 lead into halftime with tries from Griffin Chao and Barry Young.



Uganda narrowed the gap with a penalty conversion 10 minutes into the second half, but Kenyan captain George Nyambua and Chao added two more tries. Young sealed the result with a late drop kick that silenced the home crowd.



Uganda's Philip Wokorach scored two quick tries in the closing stages, but it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit.
