Kendrapara, Nov. 8 -- The Kendrapara Municipality has taken a unique and innovative initiative to make Kendrapara Township area plastic and polythene -free.
The municipality encouraged people to deposit a minimum of 300 grams of plastic or polythene waste at the counters opened by the municipality and collect a lucky coupon to win prizes.
Kendrapara Municipality Executive Officer Debabrata Bal said the Municipality launched the initiative as the state government has imposed a ban on single-use of plastic in all municipal areas of the state.
Counters were opened at Ichhapur, Santasahi, Old Bus Stand and New Bus Stand for collection of plastic wastes from the inhabitants of the town.
