New Delhi, Sept. 25 -- The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has extended its support to the demand for full statehood for Ladakh, with party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia accusing the central government of suppressing democratic rights in the region.

In a statement posted on social media, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal described the situation in Ladakh as "extremely alarming." He questioned if the purpose of India's freedom struggle was for the public to become "slaves to the BJP instead of the British." Kejriwal alleged that the BJP, "intoxicated by power," is systematically converting states into union Territories, thereby stripping away constitutional rights.
