Srinagar, March 7 -- Schools in the Kashmir Valley reopened on Friday after an 87-day winter break, with students returning in high spirits, an official said.

Schools up to class 5 were closed on December 10, 2024, while classes 6 to 12 began winter vacations on December 16, 2024. The schools were scheduled to reopen on March 1 but due to inclement weather the winter vacation was extended by a week by the authorities in Kashmir valley.

The joyful students clad in school uniforms were seen waiting on the road sides at various Srinagar localities to board their buses for the school. Some students accompanied by their parents were seen walking on foot to reach schools.
