Srinagar, Feb. 19 -- Several parts of Kashmir experienced unusual warmth on Thursday, with Srinagar recording a maximum temperature of 20.1degC, its warmest February day since 2016.

The temperature in Srinagar was just 0.5degC below the all-time February record of 20.6degC set on February 24, 2016. The temperature in Srinagar stood 9.7degC above normal, reflecting a sharp departure from typical winter conditions.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg registered 11.4degC, equalling its highest-ever February temperature recorded on February 11, 1993. The reading was nearly 10degC above normal.
