Srinagar, July 10 -- Despite being dropped from the official holiday calendar, the two major political parties in Jammu and Kashmir-- National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party -- have started preparations for observing 'Martyrs day' on July 13.
Before Article 370 abrogation in 2019, July 13 was observed as 'Martyrs Day' in erstwhile J&K state and top J&K government officials, including the then Governor, would join political parties in paying tributes to those killed in 1931. After 2019 J&K government headed by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha removed the 'Martyrs Day' from the official holiday calendar of the government.
