Varanasi, Feb. 6 -- A tribute function was held on Friday in Kashi, the religious and musical city, on the fourth death anniversary of the Nightingale of India, the late Lata Mangeshkar.

The programme was organised at the ancient pond in Pitarkunda under the leadership of Shakeel Ahmed Jadugar, president of the Varanasi Derbyshire Club. A demand was also made to name a train after her.

On this occasion, those present offered floral tributes to Lata Mangeshkar's portrait and paid their respects by feeding the fish in the pond.

Shakeel Ahmed Jadugar said Lata Mangeshkar mesmerised the country and the world with her melodious and sweet voice for almost 80 years.
